Vice Chancellor's Message

University of Calicut is a prestigious educational organisation. It has created a niche of its own among the universities around the globe. This University, as you know is the second oldest and the largest of all the other universities of Kerala.

Our university is mighty enough to satisfy the educational aspirations of a large number of rural, semi-urban and urban students of the state. Students from many countries of the world, far and near, are now attracted to our university, and the pride they take in getting associated with our University gives us immense reasons to be proud ourselves. Students, scholars, researchers, techno-savvy men who crave for excellence in pursuing newer horizons of learning do swarm around this centre of higher education, not for no reasons.

I feel delighted, exhilarated rather, in assuming office as the Vice Chancellor of this coveted centre of higher learning. I assumed office on 12th August 2011. I am well aware of the increased responsibilities came along naturally, with this assumption. I promise you I will strive hard to bring in excellence in every administrative, academic and other associated aspects of the everyday functioning of our university.

I am aware of the fact that mightier were my predecessors. I am aware that the track they set, standards they followed, feats they accomplished were emulation worthy and exemplary. I assure you I will also follow the same tracks, achieve the same heights, and will assiduously strive throughout my tenure and after to achieve something extra.

I have a dream, a dream to excel in everything I do. I want to make this university grow further and assume global magnitudes, and to make it one among the best in the world. As far as the educational standards are concerned, as far as the educational facilities are concerned, as far as the average intellectual qualities of the pass-outs are concerned I would like to make our university one among the world’s firsts.

University of Calicut was established in 1968. It is imparting higher education to over three hundred thousands students. The University has 35 Post- Graduate Departments,364 affiliated colleges and 35 Self-Financing Centres, offering a broad range of career -focused, holistic and contemporary UG/Graduate/postgraduate courses in faculties such as Arts, Science, Commerce, law, Pharmacy, Engineering and Technology , Management, etc.

I and my team are dedicated to serve the society by achieving excellence in learning, teaching, research and we are committed to provide the best opportunities for research and overall development of our students in their pursuit of knowledge. We will meticulously work together to provide a conducive atmosphere for talent identification and skill development to enable the target student population attain hitherto unattained heights in scholastic excellence. Our main motto is to produce high quality graduates, post-graduates and researchers who are capable of serving this world in a better light.

As the Vice Chancellor of this prestigious University, I assure you the best possible service to the academic world with discipline, diligence, dignity and dedication.

I expect the whole hearted cooperation of all the students, faculty members, staff and all other interested and involved people to discharge my responsibilities as Vice Chancellor.
