Qualifications : M.A, PhD

Dr. Solvin Mathew is Assistant Professor on Contract in the Department of Political Science, University of Calicut. His key areas of academic interest include: Politics and Governance in Southern Asia, Weapons of Mass Destruction and Disarmament, Indo-Pacific and Maritime Security.Solvin holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from University of Madras (India) on “China-Pakistan Nuclear Missile Convergence: A Study in Extended Deterrence”. Further, Solvin has a Master of Arts degree in War and Peace Studies from University of Vilnius (Lithuania) and an M.A in Political Science from Madras Christian College, University of Madras. Additionally, he has a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from University of South Carolina (U.S.A),

He is the recipient of Fulbright-PLUS Fellowship (2005), Erasmus Mundus Fellowship (2009) and Endeavour Research Fellowship (2011). Additionally, he received the Carolininana Award (2007), U.S State Department Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Award for Outstanding Participation in U.S. Community and University Campus Life (2007). Solvin was a research assistant at the Australian Institute of International Affairs (Australia), and worked with University of South Carolina’s Global Community (U.S.A), Education for Peace in Iraq Centre (Washington D.C, U.S.A), and Genocide Intervention Network (Washington D.C, U.S.A). He has published nearly twenty-five research papers in reputed peer-refereed national as well as international journals.
