This agreement made between the Union Territory of Lakshadweep and the University of Calicut.
It is considered of mutual concern to formulate and conduct academic programme for the benefit of the students of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep under a package programme.
Under this joint initiative of package programme, different courses of the University of Calicut will be offered in selected islands with effect from 2005-2006. This joint initiative will be in operation, initially for a period of 5 years from the date of signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and will be subject to review and revision thereafter.

The University of Calicut agree

1. To establish three of its Centres at Andrott, Kadamat and Kavaratti for providing instructions in different disciplines.
2. To offer B.Sc Zoology and B.Com at Andrott, B.A Arabic and Economics at Kadamat and B.Ed at Kavaratti.
3. To provide human resources support for in-service training for the school teachers at Kavaratti.
4. To administer the curriculum as prescribed by the Board of Studies of the University of Calicut in all the three Centres of University of Calicut.
5. To b fully responsible for academic administration.
6. To provide the teaching faculty on a package basis for the various courses as shown in appendix 1 (a) and 1 (b).
7. To provide non-teaching staff on a package basis as shown in the appendix 1 (c)
8. To conduct the curriculum as prescribed by the University of Calicut as it is done in the case of a typical University Centre.
9. To provide continued help for expansion, strengthening and redesigning the centre in future through mutual consultations.
The Union Territory of Lakshadweep agree
1. To provide land, building, equipments and other required infrastructure/facilities for implementing the clauses as laid down in the preamble.
2. To provide the funds required for establishment and maintenance of the Centres.
3. To support in full the salary package and other charges for the teaching, non-teaching and other support staff appointed for the three Centers as shown in the Appendix-II.
4. To provide accommodation facilities for the staff.
5. To meet the expenditure in connection with the conduct of exams as prescribed by the University.

The University of Calicut and the Union Territory of Lakshadweep further agree to discontinue the Centres in future if felt necessary by the Union Territory of Lakshadweep Administration at any point of time even within the MoU period i.e. 5 years, if such a situation arises due to which it is not possible to run the University Centres due to any unforeseen or administrative reasons. In such a situation the teaching and non-teaching and the support staff will revert back to the University of Calicut without any further liability on the part of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep.
