PROF. V. RAJAKRISHNAN

Writer, film critic and filmmaker. Now working as Professor in the English department of the Kerala University. Has authored 10 books Nine critical works and one screenplay in Malayalam and one book of theater criticism in English.

Major distinctions:

• Vilasini Endowment Award of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi in the Year 2005 for his book Nagnayaminikal which was adjudged as the best critical work on fiction written in Malayalam in the years 2002, 2003 and 2004. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.
• Faculty Research Fellowship of the Shastri Indo-Canadian Foundation in 1999.
• Associateship at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study in Shimla for 3 years starting from 1999.
• The award of the Kerala Government for the best debut film in the year 1995 for his feature film Shraddham.
• National and state awards for the Best Writing on Cinema for his book Kazhchayude Asanthi in 1987.
• Pre-doctoral Fulbright Scholarship of the U.S government in 1977-78 to carry out his research in American theater.

His major critical writings include Rogathinte Pookkal (1979), Aal Ozhinja Arangu (1990), Cherukathayude Chandas (1997) and Nagnayaminikal (2003).
