  1. Established a Plant Biotechnology laboratory
  2. Cloned and expressed gene for Ammonium Transporter in sandal host in teractions
  3. Cloned and sequenced Bacterial blight resistant gene in rice
  4. Modelled PR1 proteins for bacterial and fungal toleance
  5. Developed micropropagation protocols for difficult to propagate plant species

  • Post Doctoral Fellow- April 2002-July 2004- Albert Katz Centre for Desert Agrobiologies, Ben Gurion University of Negev, Israel- Cloning and expression of Ammonium transporter1 (AMT1) genes from symbiotic Azolla-Anabaena under different nitrogen stress conditions.

  • Research Associate- Sept.1997-April 2002- Tissue culture and cryopreservation unit, National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, New Delhi- Tissue culture, cryopreservation and genetic stability of conserved germplasm of Zingiber, Curcuma, Piper, Elleteria and Vanilla in the in vitro genebank of NBPGR.

Research Interests

  • Plant molecular genetics and genomics specially to understand the mechanism of host parasite interaction and molecular genetics of inorganic ion transport across membrane of plant roots.

  • Cloning and expression of new genes

  • Molecular markers for the identification of specific trait and sex determination in dioecious plants

  • Conservation of rare and threatened plants by tissue culture.

  • Enzyme phosphorylation and post translational modifications of enzymes
