The Academic Council resolved to approve the suggestion of the Commissioner of Entrance Examination - Government of Kerala to accept Equivalency Certificate from any of the Universities in Kerala for courses taken from outside Kerala for admission to various courses of study for which there is a common State Level Entrance Test. (U.O. No. GA I/A1/126/98 dated 03.06.2003).

The Academic Council resolved to recognise the three main pattern of Mangalore University and all other Universities in Karnataka, as three main patterns are followed in all Universities in Karnataka. The standardization of aggregate marks for the purpose of admission to PG course will be formulated by the concerned Faculties after getting the recommendation of the concerned Board of Studies. The Academic Council resolved to recognise the Degrees/Diplomas awarded by Central Universities including IGNOU, all Universitities in Kerala, Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Management Studies as recommended by the Standing Committee on Academic Council held on 22.02.2003. The decision applies to all Degrees/Diplomas under the regular stream. (U.O. No. GAI/AI/442/2001 dated 09.06.2003 and U.O. (Addendum) No. GAI/AI/442/2001 (i) dated 18.06.2003),and U.O.No:GAI/AI/4517/2001 dated 12-05-2008.

The Standing Committee on Academic Council held on 14.08.2003, vide item No.16, resolved to recognise the medical degrees including Dentistry, Ayurveda and Homoeopathy from other Institutions/Universities recognised by the respective National Bodies such as Medical Council of India, Dental Council of India, Central Council of Indian Medicine and Central Council of Homoeopathy. (U.O. No. GAI/AI/3259/2003 dated 22.09.2003.

The Standing Committee on Academic Council at its meeting held on 14.08.2003, vide item No.24, considered the question of recognition of M.Phil & Ph.D degrees of other Universities and resolved that no separate recognition is needed in the case of M.Phil (Regular) and Ph.D degrees of other Universities "approved by the AIU". Orders are therefore issued recognizing the M.Phil (Regular) and Ph.D degrees of other Universities, approved by the AIU. (U.O. No. GAI/AI/4517/2001 dated 03/01/2005).

The Academic Council at its meeting held on 18.06.2005, vide item No. 27, considered the question of withdrawal of the recognition of Tamil Nadu HSE (Private Study) and resolved not to recognise the Tamil Nadu HSE (Private Study) w.e.f. 2005-2006 Academic year. (U.O. No. GAI/AI/5062/2002 dated 07.07.2005).

The Academic Council at its meeting held on 18.06.2005, vide item No. (11) 1 considered the recognition of Company Secretaryship Programme of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and resolved to recommend it as a basic qualification to research programme (M.Phil/Ph.D) in the area of Management Studies. (U.O. No. GAI/AI/2016/2002 dated 06.08.2005).

The Academic Council held on 18.06.2005, as per item No. 24, has resolved to approve the recommendation of the Committee as follows. Automatic recognition shall be granted to all the regulare programmes from any University or educational Institutions recognized by the corresponding apex regulatory bodies such as UGC, AICTE, MCI, PCI, NCTE, BCI, DCI etc. for "Higher Studies only" , provided the minimum criteria for admission to such programmes are the same as listed by the UGC (DO.No.F1-52/97 (CPP-11) dated 09.08.2002). "The Academic council at its LXI meeting held on 05-04-2008 resolved to withdraw the recognition already granted to the BLISc and MLISc correspondence courses of the University of Madras with effect from 12-04-2005.Aslo resolved to withdraw the blanket recognition granted to private / external/distasnce/correspondance courses of Central Universities, IGNOU and other Universities in Kerala.For recognition of every such coursses,the scheme and syllabus of the course have to be examined by the Board of Studies concerned,then the Faculty and finally by the Standing Committe on Academic Council/the Academic Council(U.O.No;GAI/AI/4517/2001 dated 12-05-2008 and 17-05-2008"
