Inauguration of M.A. Women’s Studies Course |
The Centre for Women’s Studies, University of Calicut has launched its first teaching activity by offering the M.A. Women’s Studies Course. This course introduced for the first time in the entire state of Kerala was duly acknowledged by the inaugural address made by the Pro-Vice-chancellor Dr. C. Gopinathan Pillai in a function presided over by the Registrar, Dr. P.P. Mohamed. In his inaugural address the Pro-Vice-Chancellor stressed the need for empowering women through education whereupon the fifty percent of the population would be enabled to contribute to national development. |
The Registrar elaborated on how lack of respect for opposite sex quite often lead to attrocities and violences. Dr. Janaki Sreedharan, Lecturer, Department of English and Member, Advisory Committee of Centre for Women’s Studies, Dr. T.P. Sasikumar, Director, Academic Staff College and Dr. P.V.Unnikrishnan, Reader & Head, Department of Phiolosophy expressed felicitations on the occasion. Dr. Moly Kuruvilla, Reader in-charge of Director, Centre for Women’s Studies welcomed the gathering while Smt. Sonia.K.Das, Lecturer, Centre for Women’s Studies proposed vote of thanks. |
